About Hilda

Hilda Angell has been an animal lover for her whole life and has worked in animal-related fields for 35 years. She started the first pet related after-school enrichment course called Care For Critters, which was offered to K-6th Graders, covering all aspects of responsible pet ownership and handling. She went on to work in veterinary offices for 7 years, is currently working at the Willamette Humane Society as Operations Support, and is also a Certified Euthanasia Technician. This part of her job brought her into close contact with pet owners who were grieving and vulnerable, looking for a way to feel okay, which is ultimately why she chose to become a certified pet loss and bereavement counselor.  She was trained and certified by Dr. Wallace Sife of the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement -  APLB.org. His web-site has a wealth of information on pet loss and related subjects. He is also the author of "Loss of a Pet".  Hilda is now one of the only certified Pet Loss counselors in Oregon

About Healing Angell

"Healing Angell was created to honor the legacy of love left by my dog Luna. She was my healing angel and she showed me what unconditional love really meant. I came to realize that I was not the only person in the world who had loved and lost a beloved pet and who's life was left in an emotional tailspin. The field of Pet Loss and Bereavement had not yet been recognized as a need, I have started this service to help incredibly bonded owners deal with the loss of their pets, and to help them understand why it is sometimes more painful than the loss of human life."
